Below is link to a flier that Rabbi Kluwgant would ask to be sent out to all the shuls and rabbis.
Jewish care is undertaking this survey and it is vital that they get participation from the 'traditional' sector of the community, to hear their responses.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in this important matter.
Any queries, please feel free to contact Rabbi Kluwgant directly

Dear Rabbi Glasman and rabbinical couples, particularly, Rabbaniot, my esteemed hard working colleagues, We have seen a call to Rabbonim to join together to form a special table at the Siyum HaShas in Melbourne and I hope you heed the call. Gemara study, along with study of Mishnah, Codes of Jewish Law, and the sweetness of studying Torah generally must be reinforced by us all. What better platform for this message can there be than a celebration of the completion of the world-wide Daf Yomi cycle? This study, my husband and I took on shortly before our mow 20 year old son became a Bar Mitzvah has solidified us individually and as a couple. Even as my husband got the Semicha and not me, naturally,he enlightened me alongside studying on the intricacies and beautiful, touching nature of the Halacha he was studying. He became an even more interesting fellow! My family was enriched by his growth as it has been enriched by our joint study and this is directly connected to the Nachas we get now from our sons and daughters bubbling over with excitement in their own Torah learning. This has all happened with our loving support and because it unites with the love we have in learning ourselves. Esteemed Rabbaniot, we should form our own table at the Siyum for the Daf Yomi being held in Melbourne. I know that may mean getting a baby sitter for our work at home has a monetary value. I hope HaKadosh Baruch Hu will enrich us all in the coming year so we can have the budget to support celebrations such as these. The Siyyum formula, the Hadran says it all: "We toil and get a reward." I believe in the merit of the studying we have done and the studying we have supported, encouraged and rejoiced over, we deserve our own place at the table. I hope you take this to heart and we can organize a balanced rabbinic presence at the Siyum. Have a wonderful Shabbos Rabbanit Tzipi Boroda

Surely the point is that those residents who would not choose to eat kosher or observe Jewish calendar events should nevertheless still be prepared to accept that "Jewish' Care would provide these essential aspects of Jewish life to residents. Why would those who do not wish to observe Jewish values choose to reside in a Jewish nursing home? Whatever the case, let those who do not wish to eat kosher arrange their own meals outside of the facility..but let us not contemplate taking away basic Jewish values to satsify some lower common denominator. Jewish Care must not adopt economic rationalism at the expense of Jewish core values.

The current survey being undertaken for Jewish Care is of paramount importance to members of the Jewish community who value traditional Jewish practice. Members of the community who feel that Jewish communal institutions should identify with generally accepted Jewish practices need to make their views known by responding to the survey. I have filled out the survey. It seems to me that the tenor of the questions being put contemplate the possibility that Jewish Care will cease being an "ethno specific" institution, catering for the Jewish Community, and become a general aged care facility that happens to have Jewish residents. Those residents who wish to have specifically Jewish services such as kosher food will need to ask for them. They are then likely to get an "airline" meal.
