Shavuot is next Wed 19th & Thurs 20th May 2010 Shavuot commemorates receiving the Torah on Mount Sinai. The festival is also called "Hag HaKatzir", which means "The Harvest Holiday", "Feast of Weeks” and "Chag HaBikurim", from the practice of bringing the first fruits to the Templeot. It is our tradition to stay up late learning the night before, reading Megillah Ruth, eating Dairy foods and adorning our homes and shules with flowers and trees, reciting the Yizkor prayer on 2nd Day.
