The guest speaker at this years annual Hans Bacharach memorial oration is Rabbi David Stav who will speak on Halachic Challenges in a jewish state covering jewish education, conversion, marriage and divorce. Rabbi Stav is a popular and well known Rabbi who is the founder of Tzohar organisation and Rabbi of Shoham community.
Rabbi Stav is also the Rosh Yeshivah of the hesder Yeshivat Petach Tikva and also taeches in Metivta a women's seminary in Bar Ilan University.
Tzohar organisation was founded by a group of religious zionists and aims to promote harmony, dialogue, understanding and jewish identiy across all sections of Israeli society. Programs and activities include counselling, praying together with minyanim for religious and secular jews, marriage guidance, assistance during times of crisis eg death and mourning, telephone/lifeline contacts etc.
This is the 11th Hans Bachrach oration tha honours the late Hans Bachrach, a World War 2 refugee who arrived in Australia in 1940 and became a pioneer in championing jewish and other charitable causes in Melbourne.
This function will be held at Caulfield Hebrew Congregation Sukiert Hall, 572 Inkerman St Caulfield on Monday, 23 February at 8:00pm.
